PETER PAN World Tour
SEVEN STATUES
Hi! I'm Trudy Morgan-Cole, a writer and teacher in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada. I grew up going to Bowring Park in the west end of St. John's, and enjoying, as many Newfoundland children did, the statue of Peter Pan that has stood by the duck pond there since 1925. I also grew up hearing that our Peter Pan statue was a copy of one in Kensington Gardens, London, and that there were only two of them in the world.

That was only partly true. In 2006 I went to England with my family and visited the original Peter Pan statue by Sir George Frampton. By that time, thanks to the internet, I knew that there were actually seven of these statues worldwide.

In 2008, I had the chance to go to Perth, Australia, to teach a workshop. Once I'd seen the Peter Pan statue there, on the other side of the world, it seemed like it would be relatively easy to eventually visit all seven. In fact, it took me till 2019 to see them all. This website tells my own story of visiting each of the statues, as well as the bits of history and information about each that I've been able to learn over the years.

It was interesting to read, while I was in the midst of this quest, this well-researched article by a fellow Newfoundland writer, Susan Flanagan, about the seven Peter Pan statues and their history. If you know any interesting facts about any of these statues, or if you want to correct or update anything I've said here, please get in touch.
